Raiding in World of Warcraft represents the pinnacle of in-game achievements. Sure you can load up on gold or knock your opponents around in PvP, but the only true way to show off just how good you and your fellow guildies are is to go into top level raiding content and come out with all the epic gear jammed into the hardest of hard bosses.
But, for anyone just getting started in World of Warcraft, raiding content can be a bit intimidating. It requires hours and hours of practice, other players to help out, and a ton of free time to progress through the lower level content. To help anyone just starting out in raiding, here are three tips to jump starting your early level content and moving up quickly:
1. Find a Good Guild
Before you go into even the most basic of low level raids, you need to find a good guild that you can practice with each and every day. That means spending some serious time boning up on your skills and providing something that is tangibly useful to the guild. Research what the major guilds require and go out to prove yourself. Build up your gold stash, do well in PUG groups, and load up on achievements. The more stuff you can do while on your own, the better you’ll look to a top guild. And above all else, be professional. The last thing major guilds want is people who bring unnecessary drama to their raids.
2. Get Your Gear First
One of the biggest problems you’ll witness in a raiding group is when a player who is technically the right level tries to go into a raid when they are not properly equipped. There is a progression to raiding content at Level 80 that starts with normal dungeons, then heroic dungeons, then 10 man raiding, then 25 man raiding. If you don’t follow that progression and pick up the necessary epic gear to keep yourself alive in the higher level raids, you’ll just be a drag on your group.
3. Practice, Practice, Practice
The last thing you can take away from this article is that practice will make all the difference. If you’re truly serious about becoming a top level raider in World of Warcraft, you need to spend time reading up on raiding strategies, watching videos of top level guilds defeating top level bosses, and practice a few nights a week on content that might even be too easy for you at this point. The more time you spend practicing and honing your skills, the easier the higher level content will ultimately become.
If you’re serious about becoming an elite raider, the path to glory is fraught with many trials and a slew of things you need to start practicing early. If you can go out and find a few likeminded players to help you develop your skills, learn the raiding content and progress up to the top level stuff, you just might be able to become one of those truly elite, pimped out players with the bling and adulation. Just maybe.
